Last Wednesday, a routine chest x-ray revealed what looked to be a 2 cm spot on upper left lung. I am a 40 year old female, non smoker who is asymptomatic. Had CT with contrast on Friday and it basically said the the image was nonspecific but i measured out to be 2.8 cm x 2 cm x 1.8 cm with opacity. It also said the lesion could be inflammation/infection but because I was asymptomatic, malignancy could not be excluded. What is the likelihood this is an infection or inflammation if I have no symptoms of chest cold, etc. Everyone in my home does have bronchitis right now though
No a simple bronchitis cannot cause such a big lesion. However as the size is 2.8 cm, It is very likely that it can be a cancer also. Get a biopsy done at the earliest and a PET CT scan if it turns out to be malignant. Secondly if it was an infection or inflammation, it would cause you some symptoms. Kindly vote thanks if the answer helped u
