What Does Spotting With Clots Of Blood During Pregnancy Mean?
i am 9 weeks pregnant and had spotting for 4 days, i went to the emergency department on the first day of spotting and had a scan but the doctor said we might not see anything yet as i am on my early weeks of pregnancy. On the 3rd day of bleeding something came out of me and showed it to my GP and she said it looks like a blood clot. Yesterday I had an internal scan and the doctor said she could not see any baby so its either of these three things.. first it is juts too ealy to see the baby, secondly i had an early miscarriage or third is ectopic pregnancy. I have no pain at all since i started to bleed and I was diagnosed to have a bicornuate uterus a year ago. did i lost the baby?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. Bleeding with spotting & clotting in a confirmed pregnancy means thretened abortion. Earliest diagnosis of early pregnancy is by trans vaginal sonography by 5weeks ( gestational sac) of pregnancy . though it can be late in few2 cases, it is definetely seen by 9 weeks of pregnancy. I can understand the stress you have in this condition. I would think of- - Possibility of delayed pregnancy- where exact diagnosis & hormone supplements are needed to save the pregnancy. - A blighted ovum which was cleared with the clot/complete abortion, - tubal pregnancy- needs to be excluded by abdominal USG The exact position can be obtained by consulting expert gynecologist after examination & investigations. Thanks.
