What Does Stenosis In External Carotid Artery On Doppler Test Mean?
I had a carotid artery Doppler test done that indicated mild stenosis in the 1%-49% range of the internal carotid arteries bilaterally. Also, the test indicated moderate stenosis in the 50%-69% range of the right external carotid artery. What does this mean? What are my recourses? Thank you. Debbie

It means that there is blockage of carotid artery due to atherosclerotic plaque and if this causes neurological symptoms such as dizziness,vision disorders or stroke,it should be surgically treated by cleaning carotid artery and you should consult vascular surgeon.
