Hi,

Is she able to hold neck and roll over? Is she recognising her mother and smiling at you?

When babies are born, they always keeps fist closed and the back is curved. As they grows up, gradually they starts to keep fists open (actually, keeping it always closed beyond 6 months is of concern), and the back becomes straight. Sitting without supports usually begins when 8 month is completed. Now we expect her to sit momentarily if made to sit.

In short, if she is able to hold neck straight, able to rollover and sits for sometime when made to sit, her overall motor development is normal. Keeping fists open and straight back are also signs of normal development. Anyhow, your pediatrician will discuss in detail after examining him.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
