I have a urine test showing 100,000 CFU/ML of streptococcus anginosus. Is this something I should be very concerned about? My doctor has started me on 250mg of Levaquin and referred me to a urologist. I just had a hysterectomy 8 weeks ago. Could I have picked this bacteria up at that time?
Dear- thanks for using our service and will give you my medical advise.Stretptococcus anginosus is a bacteria that is producing an urine infection because you have more than 50,000 colonies in the culture. It is sensitive to Levaquin and should cure the infection. However is good to have an urologist evaluation and possible cystoscopy when you urine is clear to find out that there is no other reason to have this infection.Sometimes you could have kidney stone or urethral stricture that could make you suceptible to have infection. I hope that my advise has been helpful DR.Sara
