pls. help me understand pap smear report.. PAPANICOLAOU SMEAR PAPANICOLAOU SMEAR SPECIMEN TWO CERVICAL SMEARS RECEIVED MICROSCOPIC EXAMINATION 2001 BETHESDA SYSTEM. STATEMENT OF ADEQUACY SMEARS ARE SATISFACTORY FOR EVALUATION MICROSCOPY SMEARS SHOWS NUMEROUS INTERMEDIATE, SUPERFICIAL SQUAMOUS EPITHELIAL CELLS AND ENDOCERVICAL CELLS IN A BACKGROUND OF NUMEROUS NEUTROPHILS AND PROTEINACEOUS MATERIAL OBSCURING NUCLEAR DETAILS AT PLACES. METHOD : MICROSCOPY INTERPRETATION DIAGNOSIS INFLAMMATORY SMEARS. NEGATIVE FOR INTRAEPITHELIAL LESION OR MALIGNANCY. ADVISE CLINICORADIOLOGICAL CORELATION

The pap smear result is some non specific inflammation near the cervix..
Your treating doctor may give you a course of antibiotic and may ask to go for a repeat pap smear after 3 months..
The result should be correlated with your age, symptoms and pelvic examination findings..
