What Does Swelling Above The Chest And Throat Indicate?

I looked in a mirror and noticed swelling above my chest in the shape of a round neck shirt (which I am not wearing). I few minutes later I started having a swollen throat. It is not hard to breath, but my swallowing is labored. My background includes high blood pressure (which has been under control for years with medication) and a 3 inch DVT in my groin (Factor V Ladon blood).

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The swelling of the upper chest and neck may be due to superior vena cava syndrome or a severe allergic reaction. In both cases, it is best to see a doctor as soon as possible to have proper checks and determine the exact cause of it and the needed treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
