What Does Swelling Around A Surgical Wound Indicate?
Hello! Question: my brother had his spleen removed 9 years ago due to being shot! Last week the wound where the bullet went in swollen up and was painful but went away 2days later.. yesterday he had a fever chills and hives today he has fever of 102.5 what should he do??

The blood tests should be done first to look for counts. Is the swollen area erythematous?
As you have mentioned that the swelling subsides, we have to check whether it is really swelling, an infection or hernia that has developed out there. A surgical opinion should be taken.
