Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was in a minor auto accident. A car backed into the front right side of my car. I felt some soreness a couple of days after the accident. Then I noticed a small swollen area on my chest under my collarbone, where the seatbelt was. It doesn t hurt but feels hard and swollen. The doctor said I had a chest wall contusion. Is it normal for there to be no pain, only the swollen area? The accident happened approx. 2 weeks ago. How long should it take for this area to go back to normal?
Hi, From history it seems that as there is no pain or respiratory tract discomfort, there might be having small hematoma giving this swelling. This can be due to strong rubbing of seat belt during accident. Nothing to worry, gradually this swelling will be absorbed. Apply ice pack 2-3 times a day for few days. Ok and take care.
