What Does Swelling In Left Side Of Face Including The Gums Suggest?
I woke up this morning and had a very swollen left side of my face. It seems like the lower left gum is very swollen also. I have not broken a tooth and go to the dentist regularly. I have had some sporadic gum swelling in recent months but that always goes away.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
As per your complain in case if you have a recurring episodes of swollen face along with swollen lower gum it looks like inflammation of the gum flap surrounding or partially covering the wisdom tooth known as Pericoronitis and is caused due to food deposition between the gum flap and the wisdom tooth causing infection.. This can be confirmed by a clinical examination by consulting an Oral Physician at the time of swelling..
Another cause can be due to allergic reaction to some food or medication but chances of Pericoronitis are more probable..
Nothing to worry, consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and in case of Pericoronitis as it is already a recurring episode removal of gum flap known as Operculectomy or extraction of wisdom tooth can provide relief..
In case if it is allergic reaction anti-allergic medication like Cetrizine can help..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
