Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Meloxicam is usually taken once daily. You have to use it regularly to get the most benefit from it.You have to use it for some weeks regularly to feel improvement. Swelling of ankles is a common side effect of meloxicam. You can continue taking meloxicam (once daily) next days and paracetamol+codeine (for some days, twice daily) to relieve pain. Considering the swelling, you might also have rheumatoid arthritis , so you better consult a rheumatologist and perform laboratory studies to find out the right diagnosis, for a better treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
