General Surgeon 's  Response
The swelling of the groins in all probability could be inguinal hernia. It occasionally can occur on both sides, though usually one side is involved. It reduces in size while lying down. They are not painful unless any complications like obstruction of the intestines occur in the hernial sac. In such a case it could be associated with vomiting, and becomes an emergency for surgery. However, in your case, please don't worry, the vomiting and diarrhea could be due to an unrelated intestinal infection. The permanent treatment for the inguinal hernia is surgery, usually done by laparoscopic method and mesh repair.
