Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My frie is seventy years old. Has swollen hand, can grip hurts. it was very swollen Friday but has gone down. He has had pleque in the past year in both legs, could this be pleque again. His haND IS NOT COLD BUT WARM. OR IS IT ATHERITIS IN HIS JOINT?
Swollen and warm hand is indicating an inflammatory process. Arthritis is a possible cause. However, I should rule out local trauma or tissue damages. Please send a photo of your friend's hand to evaluate the swelling and changes myself.
For the moment, advise to: - keep the hand well raised - apply cold compresses locally - take anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen or naproxen
If still swollen, should see his physician as soon as possible.
Wish fast recovery.
