Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi Dr Rynne, I had a contusion to my left thigh and also had my knee buckle last Friday. On Sunday morning it was extremely swollen and immobile, still with excrutiating pain especially on the upper outside 1/3 of my knee cap. I went to ER and had it xrayed and ultrasound for blood clots, all negative. Any thoughts? Having an MRI scheduled.
contusions are often painfull ranging from days to weeks mri for knee is always beneficial as ot cam easily diagnose any ligament tears unlike x ray and USG my advice is to wait for few more days rather directly going for an MRI take some pain killers and muscle relaxants for few days than try out taking an MRI if the treatment shows no progress in reducing the pain
