What Does Swelling In The Legs Indicate?

I am disabled and my feet and legs have been swelling for three weeks now. I take two diuretics at bedtime, and one in the afternoon. It is aforesaid. I am living in an apartment building that has had bedbugs, and of course they took my bed, couch, and liftchair, so for three weeks I have been sitting in my power chair with my legs down to try and sleep. I have been bitten on top of both feet and toes, and my feet are very swollen. My Doctor is on maternity leave,so I don t know what to do. I can barely walk six feet without sitting down.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The swelling in feet is likely because you have been keeping your feet down for a prolonged period of time. However, since you have a history of bed bug bite, the possibility of infection (cellulitis) should also be ruled out.

Please be advised to follow up with your primary provider and make sure to keep your leg elevated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal
