I have been having a lot of very bad swelling in my stomach between my belly button and my bra. It is right smack in the middle. My stomach is rock hard and makes bending, getting out of a chair etc very hard and uncomfortable. My stomach is so swollen I can t get my jeans to zip even tho I haven t gained any weight. I have been having pain with this for at least 4 weeks that never goes away but gets much much worse as the day goes on. Starts the day at about a 4 and ends in about an 8 or 9. I also have pain in my my back mostly on the right bottom side.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
* As per my surgical experience, there are various reasons for the swelling in upper abdomen as:
- Hernia ( ventral or others )
- Abdomen fat deposition
- Abdomen pathology
- others.
* In our clinic, I recommend primary evaluation of such case with an ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis for further guidelines.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
