What Does Swelling In The Wrists And Fingers Indicate?

i have a severly swollen wrist and fingers and my wrist is hot to the touch and very painful. The emergency Dr says I have a blood infection and prescribed antibiotics and told me to take both ibuprofen and tylenol extra strength in both every 4 hours which I have been doing and while that slightly eases the pain and helps me to sleep a little, I am quite concerned about taking so many OTC extra strength pain killers. Is this okay as long as its not for a prolonged length of time - perhaps 3 to 4 days until the infection hopefulĺy clears up?

Swelling in wrist and fingers indicate underlying inflammatory process. Initial requirement of anti inflammatory drugs do not last longer for intake as the clinician decreases the dosage once it gets under control.

Additional application of ice and keeping hand elevated will support to recover faster.
