General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Kidney is one of the major organs that maintains body's essential nutrients through filtration. It also helps in synthesis of Erythropoietin, a hormone helps in red blood cell synthesis. Renal failure results in anaemia which maybe corrected with artificial hormonal injection. Renal failure also reduces protein particularly albumin level in the body which leads to facial edema and generalised edema progressively. Anemia can be corrected by blood transfusion while considering his age. Regular dialysis is necessary to remove toxins from the body, regular hemoglobin check up and appropriate corrective measures also needed for the same if needed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
