I have both rheumatoid and osteoarthritis. I have been in treatment for 15+ years. IN conjuction with my doctor, I have just switched biologics from Actemra to Simponi(only 2 injections/months so far). At the same time, I have switched from oral methotrexate, after many years, to Rasuvo, have had 4 injections/weeks as of today. With all the change, I don t expect immediate results, maybe only mild results, for that matter. I am very conservative in my expectations. At the same time, I started seeing a pain management doctor, and he prescribed Gabapentin. I only took a weeks worth, because, new to me, as of last week, is periodic swelling of my ankles, but most especially the tops of my feet. I mentioned it to him, and he told me it might happen. I was not willing to accept the swelling, and stopped. But, now, a week later, I am still getting the swelling, and it affects all my joints and walking, of course. I use ice, and elevation, and of course, it diminishes at night. I don t like it, and won t accept it. I have a message into my doctor, but so far, I am winging it based on common sense. Cut back on salt, and salty food, and drinking lots of water. I am sure it is related to my arthritis. The only other time this has really been an issue was 40 years ago, it is how my rheumatoid manifested itself initially. No other changes in diet, sleep, medicines, or changes.
