What Does Swelling On The Left Foot Indicate?

I fell on my left foot and it really swelled up bad. I did this last Friday went to primary health the x rayed it and gave me a walking boot that you put air in. Do I keep it on all the time? What is the the purpose of a walking boot? They want to take another X-ray in 2 weeks if it still hurts, which it still does and it is still swelled up some and I’ve done all the things like ice etc. could it still have broken bones or something wrong with it, my toes done move yet?

Hello,

If they find any hairline fracture or if they are in doubt of fracture then only they will ask you to do again after two weeks. Yes, that boots you to use all time if the swelling is not decreasing then it might be a fracture only. But treatment wouldn't be surgery every time. Because some fracture does heal without surgery. Take painkillers like diclofenac, tramadol, morphine etcetera.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Archana
