What Does Swollen Gland Under The Jaw, Sores On Lips With Chapped Skin Suggest?

Hi. My daughter has a grape sized swollen gland underneath the pallet of her mouth, (under her jaw). She has sores on her bottom lips and I think that they are cold sores, but they may be just chapped skin that scabbed up and was picked by her. She had a cold last week. what do you think of this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
How old is your daughter?
Did she take any medicines for cold?
Does she still have fever?
For sores on her lips,a vitamin B complex supplement would be helpful.
For the swollen gland,it's supposed to be a sub mandibular gland swelling which might have occured due to the cold.If it does not subside within a week, and other symptoms like fever and pain persists ,an antibiotic would be required along with an anti-inflammatory analgesic medication like ibuprofen.
I find this answer helpful
