What Does Swollen Tonsils With Voice Change Post Treatment For Infected Tonsils Suggest?
Hello - yes, my son, 18 yrs. old had badly infected tonsils it didn t go away, we finally got antibiotics and the pain left and he felt better. But, my question is, since then, his voice is different and his tonsils are still enormous but without other symptoms, just very large tonsils, so much that it affects his voice. I m not sure what to do or if it is serious or I shouldn t t worry about it. What do you recommend?
Sometimes the tonsils stay enlarged after an acute episode of tonsillitis. If they interfere with daily life and cause pain and fever and voice change, they can be surgically removed by tonsillectomy. It may take 2-4 weeks for the swollen tonsils to come to normal size.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
