Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For the past 2 weeks I have been experiencing a tenderness on the left lower back that feels like a bruise or a abrasion. There is no bruising, rash, swelling, redness or any other visual symtoms. The tenderness feels like it is just under the skin. I have not been hit, exercised extensively, twisted or anything else. Any clue what this could be?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You had also reacted spontaneously for your condition. It cab be due to kidney problem or muscle strain. Kidneys are organs which helps in formation of urine and removal of waste products in the body. If there is any damage to the kidney, first thing effected will be urine. So urine test is very much required to know about kidney. 1) Go for urine analysis 2) For further confirmation you can go for blood test like serum creatinine and blood urea (kidney functioning tests).
Coming to the diagnosis, muscle strain may be probable reason. You can confirm it by changing your posture, if pain changes with postural change, it will be muscle strain. Presently you can use 1) any non steroidal anti inflammatory drug 2) You can use hot water pack for pain.
If problem persists go for blood tests and contact us at any time. Hoping for speedy recovery.
