What Does The Anti HCV Test Report Of A 23-year-old Male Indicate?
hi doctor, i am a male of 23 years age. i ahve done my (Anti HCV) test LAST WEEK and the results are (0.70) cut-off point and which is less then 1 and it is mentioned on the report that my (anti HCV) and (PCR) is negative but on ELISA method it shows positive signs. what should i spouse to cinsider this result as and what could be the best cure for it? is it recoverable within 30 days?
Based on the history you have shared, if PCR is negative then you shouldn't worry at all however for reassurance ultrasound abdomen and liver function tests to look for any signs of chronic liver disease may be done.
Meanwhile, PCR may be repeated after 6 months to see if it stays negative.
If ELISA is yielding positive results that may be due to past infection which may have got cured itself without Medical intervention and is possible.
The screening test will remain positive as it detects antibodies or your immunity for hepatitis C which isn't a bad thing either.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
