What Does The CT Scan Report Indicate?

Hello Doctor

CT scan results is
1. Acute to Subacute infarcts in the right centrum semiovale.
2. chronic infarct in right corona radiata, body of right caudate nucleus and superior right lentiform nucleus.
3. Age related cerebral atrophy and ischemic changes.

Please let us know what is the treatment for this?

Thanks

I read your question and I understand your concern.
That CT scan shows that the patient has several brain lesion on the right side of his brain and that the cause for those lesions is ischemia meaning lack of blood flow in those areas due to obstruction of blood vessels that supply them. Some of those lesions are old some are recent (acute to subacute)
Regarding the treatment, for these current lesions it is not a question of medication, not reversible with drugs, what improvement is expected will be thanks to undamaged are compensating and treatment consists mainly in physiotherapy.
What must be done is find the source of these lesions to lower the risk of new lesions in the future. For that must be investigated for risk factors like high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, high cholesterol and they should be addressed. Also a blood thinner like aspirin should be given.
Second important thing in your case is to look for stenosis (narrowing) of the right carotid artery, the blood vessel responsible for taking blood to the right side of the brain, which is releasing clots in the brain or diminishing blood flow to that region. I suspect there is a stenosis of that artery (or its main branches) because all the lesions are on the same side in the areas supplied by that artery. If a significant stenosis is found according to its degree might need surgery or endovascular intervention to widen it.
I hope to have been of help.
