Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m a 73 old male, 6 3 @ 260. Two heart attacks, 5 by-passes, two open heart, 4 stints. Last 6 months very hard to breath. Pulmologist says COPD is Ok. Echo shows 30% extraction factor as it did a year ago. I seem to be getting worse, but Dr. want s only to treat with meds which are not helping.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
Based on the information provided, the Echo test report suggests that the ejection fraction of your heart is 30%, which means that your heart is not pumping blood as effectively as it should. This may be contributing to your difficulty in breathing, and it is likely related to your previous heart conditions and procedures.
The fact that your ejection fraction has remained the same over the past year despite treatment with medication suggests that the current treatment approach may not be effective for you. However, it's important to note that the treatment of heart conditions is complex and may require a trial-and-error approach to find the most effective treatment for each individual.
It may be helpful to discuss with your doctor the possibility of additional tests or imaging studies to further evaluate your heart function and determine if there are other treatment options available. It's also important to continue to follow up regularly with your healthcare provider and report any new or worsening symptoms.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
