Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had an EKG a few days ago that indicated a left bundle branch block and combined atrial enlargement. This is a new finding and I am curious as to what triggered these abnormalities. Last summer, my PCP sent me to the ER because I had edema in my hands, feet and legs, and chest pressure. My BP on arrival was 199/110 and my heart rate was 120. They did an EKG which was normal and some blood work and several hours later told me I could go home. My BP at discharge was 187/105 and I voice my concern to the doctor but was told it was fine. Could this episode have caused the LBBB and atrial enlargement? I felt that more of a workup should have been done at the ER before they let me leave.
