IMPRESSION: * SUGGESTIVE OF ENCEPHALOMALACIA - GLIOSIS LEFT PARIETAL LOBE - MAINLY IN LEFT CENTRUM SEMIOVALE. * MALACIC - GLIOTIC AREAS IN BILATERAL POSTERIOR PERIVENTRICULAR REGION. * SMALL GLIOTIC AREA IN RIGHT CENTRUM SEMIOVALE AND LEFT CEREBRAL PEDUNCLE AND LEFT ASPECT OF PONS.
Gliosis is the way the brain heals after being damaged. Its like forming a "scar" within the brain tissue. The report describes gliosis in multiple areas of the brain. This indicates the brain was subject to damage by, for example, inflammation, and it healed with this gliosis.
