What Does The X-ray Regarding Pain And Swelling In Biceps Indicate?
An 18 y.o. male presents with a complaint of pain and swelling in the biceps region of his right upper extremity. Examination reveals a generalized moderate tenderness to this region with mild edema. X-ray reveals an osteolytic lesion to the mid-shaft region of the right humerus. The lesion is further described as having an "onion peel" appearance at the cortical margins.
I need to know the diagnosis, pathophysiology, treatment plan/options? Thank you
1.The symptoms suggest presence of a lytic lesion right humours bone proximal part. 2.The description seems like malignant lesions - corresponding to the Evings sarcoma, with adjacent soft tissue involvement. Cortical irregularities - more towards malignant lesion - BIOPSY - is confirmatory for the malignancy. 3.Pathophysiology / aetiology are mostly idiopathic, and family history and so on. 4.The treatment depends on the extension of the disease. 5.Excision is done in most of the cases with followup. 6.Note : Diagnose is confirmed with BIOPSY - so wait for the confirmation. Good luck.
Hope i have answered your query. Any thing to ask do not hesitate. Thank you.
