Hi,
In humans, the spine has three curvatures.
Cervical spine that is seen the neck region curves toward center, thoracic region which belongs to chest region curves backwards and
lumbar spine which can be identified over lower back curves anterior. These curvatures helps in weight bearing, pressure reduction and easy movements of the back.
Trauma commonly car accidents can disrupts this anomaly. Loss of
lordosis of the cervical spine may cause painful movements, muscle and ligament strain, posture change, etc. The management depends on the level of damage. Degeneration of the vertebra makes them prone to
fracture post trauma.
Management of the condition involves medical and surgical. Medical management has analgesics and nutritional drugs for bone growth along with
physiotherapy. If there is no improvement or worsening of the condition, surgical intervention is needed. Visit a orthopedist for further management.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
