What Does The Absence Of Yolk Sac During 7 Weeks Of Pregnancy Indicate?
I was seen at the er and was told that I was 7 week pregnant and that my hcg levels was at 7000 but there was no baby or yolk sac so he informed me that he was pretty sure I would have a misscarrage and he did a biopsy of my uterus to make sure that I wasn t pregnant in my tubes well he said I wasnt . But he called in three pills to take so I can go ahead and start the misscarge but I m not comfortable with that cause I wasn t having any signs or symptoms of miscarriage should I wait to see if baby pops up? Oh and that biopsy made me bleed a whole lot please help

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Absence of fetal pole and yolk sac at 7 weeks with hCG count 7000 indicates a chemical pregnancy without growth of baby. It can wait for a week and rescan with USG (for your satisfaction) but that would increase the bleeding due to biopsy, with possibility of infection too. So it's better to go for surgical evacuation &have antibiotic course to prevent infection.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
