What Does The Below AST And ALT Levels In The Below Blood Report Suggest?
Hi,my mother had blood work done recently and her AST came back at 62 and her ALT at 80. She doesn t drink, she is a diabetic on Januvia and Metformin. She also takes Lisinopril as a precaution to protect her kidneys. Her MD has given her an rx for an ultrasound. Her last blood work the results were AST 32 and ALT 40. Should this be something to be concerned about? or what could it mean?
Thanks for asking at Healthcare magic. I read you question and I understand your concern. These are named as liver function tests but these reflect liver or other muscle injury rather. It's High level does not mean that patient has certainly liver injury. For acute hepatitis it should atleast be three times upper limit of normal. However diabetes are prone to Hepatitis C as more than 1000 studies have shown as well as to nonalcholic Steatohepatitis. I would like to advise you that don't be much worried. Do these investigations Ultrasound abdomen to ruled out fatty liver etc and HbsAg and AntiHCV, Fibroscan. Hope it helps best. take your best care. don't forget to rate this answer and close the discussion at Healthcare magic. Regards Dr Ejaz
