My 2year old son has had about 3 breath holding attacks after being very upset but responds after about a minute. I took him for an eeg and the description of the eeg was as follows: The patient was initially in a natural sleep but awoke towards the end of the recording. There is a mixed 1-4hz delta and 5-7hz theta activity of medium to high voltage recorded during sleep. Some episodic bursts of very high voltage sharp 1-4hzdelta with spikes sometimes disrupt the background. During wakefulness symmetrical and partially reactive 4hz activity is seen maximum posterity. Precentral beta activity is symmetrical. Asleep-wake record demonstrating some episodic bilateral sharp/ spiky 1-4 hz epileptiform discharges in a normal background. Am taking the results to the paediatrician next week but What does this mean?
