Hello,
I would like to welcome you to Health Care Magic. I understand your concern.
First of all I would like to explain you what are the tests you performed.
A
C-peptide test is a
blood test which is carried out to find out how much insulin your body is producing. This may be useful for determining whether you have type 1 or type 2 diabetes or whether you have
insulin resistance.
The normal range for a c-peptide test depends from lab to lab, but in the laboratory I work it is: 0.8 to 3.1 nanograms per millilitre (ng/mL).
The test should be performed fasting, without eating and drinking for 8 hours before having this blood test, as you already did.
A GAD test (Glutamic Acid Dehydrogenase
antibodies) is a blood test which measures whether the body is producing a type of antibody which destroys its own GAD cells in pancreatic islets, where insulin is produced normally. Presence of these autoantibodies suggests
type 1 diabetes. Negative result are considered when the level is 0-5.0 U/ml.
As you also understand from the above explanation, you belong to Type 2 diabetes, since both test results confirm it.
Hope I answered to your question. For further concerns feel free to ask again.
