What Does The Blood Test Of A Heart Patient Indicate?
Hi doctor, my daughter aged 2 years, weight 9.3 kgs, born with conginetal heart disease and di-george syndrom (taking calcium, iron and vitamin D syrup since birth). Her recent blood test to check her calcium level shows 7mg/dl while the normal range is 8.5 to 11 mg/dl Please reply how to increase the calcium. presently we are giving her 10 ml (2 times 5 ml). Shelcal syrup
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Calcium levels what has been indicated in the report is lower than normal range. What medication you are giving in the form of syrup should suffice. Consuming calcium rich foods like milk would also be helpful. Since bones require calcium for development in children, the extra supplemented calcium would be utilized for growth of long bones and might not reflect in blood in normal range. If the values are maintained near to 9 mg/dl, it should be fine for now. Kindly continue the same medications as prescribed. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
