Welcome to H.C.M.
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

I see similar cases amongst people who visit my clinic.

Your friend is anemic and this reports is going in favor of iron deficiency anemia because of Low hemoglobin , Low MCV with slightly increased RDW.

I will suggest you for peripheral blood film examination and iron profile.

This will confirm diagnosis and help for further management.

Thanx.

Hope this answers your question.
If you have any query then please do not hesitate .
I will be happy to answer your questions.

Pathologist and Microbiologist Dr. Shailja Puri's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,
The interpretation of blood report is as follows:
The hemoglobin level is low, however, red blood cell count is within normal limits.
The red blood cell parameters- MCV, MCH and MCHC are all decreased.
These parameters suggest that you have microcytic hypochromic anemia and iron deficiency is the most common cause of microcytic hypochromic anemia.
You need to consult your doctor with reports for assessment and treatment of microcytic hypochromic anemia.
Differential counts shows increase in lymphocytes and decreased neutrophils.
This picture is seen in viral and other chronic infections.
Raised RDW is associated with variation in red blood cell also indicates microcytic hypochromic anemia.

The serology report is for high sensitivity C reactive protein (hs-CRP) is negative thus the possibility of inflammatory disease is ruled out.

You need to consult your doctor for treatment of anemia.

Thanks and take care
