I recently had an MRI cervical spine without IV contrast I have reversal of cervical lordosis minimal grade 1 spondylitis thesis C four and five mild to moderate asymmetric facet arthritis nope no compression is seen mild to moderate bilateral foraminal narrowing 356 is greater than the right side slightly more left sided broad-based disc herniation Ridge compression is stable although the degree of disc degeneration has increased with greater supported told reactive marrow edema and anterior osteophyte formation what does this mean do I need surgeryplease answer
The MRI shows degenerative changes and intervertebral disc herniation of the cervical spine. These degenerative changes are irreversible, however, measures can be taken to arrest their progression. Rest can help to resolve disc herniation. However, if it does not resolves after taking rest then surgery is the next step.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
