What Does The Chest X Ray Report Indicate?

Hi I recently had a chest xray done and it showed calcifications present in both hilar regions expecially the right. My MD sent me for a chest xray because i ve had a chronic cough and abt, steroid injections and otc medications are not helping. My MD says I need a CT scan to r/o Sarcoidosis. What do you think?

There are many cause of Chronic Cough+ calcifications in hilar regions. Some of them are Tuberculosis, Fungal Infections and Sarcoidosis.

The treatment for these conditions are entirely different from each other and hence a correct diagnosis becomes essential.

Your doctor is right in ordering a CT scan which will reveal more details of your calcifications and your lung structure . It not only helps to check for Sarcoidosis but it will also give a clue if it is Tuberculosis or fungal infection.

Kindly get the scan done.
