Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi Doctor, I had CT scan last week and impression as follows: Abnormal soft tissue is noted completely opacifying the right epitympanum, right mastoid antrum and right mastoid air cells. This is associated with irregular attenuation of the right tegmen tympani, suspicious of bony erosions. There is also irregularity and erosion of the walls of the right mastoid antrum and right mastoid bony septations. There are erosions involving the head of the right malleus, body and long process of the right incus. The above findings are suspicious of underlying right acquired cholesteatoma. No labyrinthine fistula is seen. Mild mucoperiosteal thickening is noted in the visualised right maxillary sinus, right frontal sinus and right anterior ethmoid air cells, suggestive of underlying mild inflammatory sinusitis. Please advise
The report is indicative of middle ear pathology with abnormal skin cells growth (usually non cancerous). As per the CT findings, the extent of lesion is quite large scale, it is strongly recommended to get it removed with surgery to avoid further future complications.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel,
