Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my city scan says there is calsification seen in the abdominal aorta and visualized coronary artery. Included sections of the chest reveal a small calcific density in the left anterior serratus muscle. The heart is enlarged with left ventricular configuration . Can you please tell me what these mean? Thank you.
Hello, Calcification is basically a age related changes and it indicates atherosclerosis or what is commonly called as blockages. In the aorta and serratus muscle it is probably not significant as there is no associated abnormalities. But in coronary arteries, it can be due to blockages which may increase the risk of heart disease. If you don't have any symptoms of heart disease then you should undergo stress test like treadmill test or stress thallium. Also, echo should be done. Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.
