Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have just had a CT scan done on my sinuses due to always having sinus infections and I am on sure of the findings. The conclusion was: Moderate right maxillary sinisitis with obstruction of right OMU. Partial obstruction of left OMU with minimal left maxillary sinusitis. What does this mean?
Hello, Sinusitis is inflammation or infection in the sinuses. The OMU is ostiomeatal unit. It s a series of channels that links the sinuses allowing airflow and mucus drainage through them. When the sinuses or OMU are blocked that sets you up for infections. There are many causes for chronic sinusitis such as allergies and smoke exposure, but sometimes we never find out the cause. Work with an allergist to see if you can find the cause and treat it or remove the exposure. Regards
