What Does The Following CT Scan Report Suggest?

Good afternoon! Just want to ask what other causes of pulmonary scarring aside from PTB. I never had ptb before even in my childhood days. When we did medical exam together with my 2 kids and husband i failed the CXR due to scarring but the 3 of them passed I do not have any cough or any other sign and symptoms right now. I am perfectly fine. I just gave birth last june 8, 2017 via C-section and they did the CXR last june 22 and repeat on june 28 and july 26 but the result are the same. Please i need an opinion about this matter since i am too much worried. I did CT scan of the chest plain july 21. Result as as follows: A tiny calcified ovoid density int the posterior segment of the right lower lobe measuring about 0.8x0.2x0.3cm There are no parenchymal infiltrates seen No pleural effusion nor atelectasis notes No eveident enlarged lymph nodes The tracheo bronchial tree is patent, with no intraluminal lesions evident Impression : Pulmonary granuloma, right lower lobe Sputum Exam Result: (august 30 - sept 1 3 consecutive mornings) result are all negative. Waiting for the result of culture and follow up CXR on october 30.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

The X-ray chest shows the presence of a granuloma in the lower lobe of the lung. Granuloma in the lung may be due to tuberculous infection, sarcoidosis, fungal infection etc. I suggest you consult your pulmonologist for clinical assessment, relevant investigations and appropriate treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
