please explain the following head ct without contrast results diffuse cerebral atrophy.there is old left parietal infarct. there is atrophy of left side of cerebellum with fluid surrounding the left side of posterior fossa. no acute hemorrhage, mass effect or acute infarction. pituitary normal.mild sinus disease. small amount of fluid in mastoid tip on the left. the calvarium is intact.
I read your question and I understand your concern.
The interpretation of that scan depends on what you were looking for and past history. If you were looking for some acute damage you will be happy to know that there are no new brain lesions. What is visible though is the fact that you have had at least one stroke in the past, though perhaps you already knew that. Also there is atrophy, diffuse loss of brain mass, but the significance of that depends also from your age as some brain loss happens to all of us and is a common finding with advanced age.
I hope to have been of help.
