Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My GP called today with the results of my CT scan. 1.2 CM nodule in left lung, non calcified, irregular edge. I am 69 former light smoker quote 17 years, Parotid mass, acetic cell carcinoma, removed complete 2002. GP has ordered a PET scan. What would be the procedure after the PET scan if shown as hot? What would be the procedure if a biopsy shows cancer? Could it be removed? Thank you.
1.2 CM nodule in left lung, non calcified, irregular edge suggests malignant lesion (metastasis ) from parotid mass, acinic cell carcinoma (likely source). If biopsy shows cancer (acinic cell carcinoma) & if solitary lesion, lobectomy may be undertaken but further work-up like PET scan reveals multiple lesions chemotherapy is the answer.
This is only speculative and no firm conclusion can be offered.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
