Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My my wife is a type II diabetic taking metformin and glimpiride. She had a CT-Scan today after ingesting 2% Barium Sulfate. Instructions on barium sulfate container said refrain for 48 hours the taking of metformin and drugs containing metformin, and listed numerous such drugs by name. Glimperide was not on the list. Does it contain metformin? Bill
Glimepiride does not contain metformin so she can continue with this. Though some times it may come in combination with metformin but by itself it has no metformin in it. Gucophage should be stopped for 2 days.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
