I am reading a current medical report on a two-month old child with a non-depressed skull fracture and subdural hematomas (cracked skull and bleeding on the brain). It also reads that the EEG indicated moderate diffuse cerebral dysfunction. What does this mean in layman s terms?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
There is a non displaced fracture in his skull which cause minor bleed underneath the skull bone and above the brain matter. There is also some changes detected in his brain probably due to impact of the injury so we have to correlate with an EEG to assess the brain function. EEG is something similar to ECG Aby which brain functions can be assessed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
