I had a EKG done today and the results showed: Artial Flutter with variable AV block, Left anterior fascicular block, Left ventricular hypertrophy with QRS widening, Abnormal ECG. My vent rate 95 bpm PR interval *ms QRS duration 122 ms QT/Tc 384/482 ms O-R-T axes * -58 76 Can you explain whats going on in laymans terms
Welcome to Health Care Magic. Thank you for posting your question. I can understand your concern.
Yes I will explain in layman terms.
Consider the heart as a house. In every house there is an electrical connection. Similarly the heart has it too. There is a defect in the electrical connection of your heart. The heart has 4 chambers - 2 atria and 2 ventricles. Flutter means the rapid and regular contraction of the atria @ 220-350 beats /min. It is always associated with AV block. AV node is a filter between our atrium and ventricle . More important is our ventricle. So even if the atrium beats at say 250 / min , since there is a block, the ventricular rate is almost normal-95 (a bit on the high normal range)
Let me solve your queries - i) Ventricular rate - high normal ii) PR interval - normal iii) QRS duration - normal iv) QTc- prolonged v) Axis - normal
Do not worry much. Keep in touch with your cardiologist.
