Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I had an MRI done 2 weeks ago & just received the report. Can you please explain the information from the report in which I have typed below. I am a 53 year old female. Impressions: Chronic right MCA territory infarct with associated encephalomalacia. Given the asymmetric volume loss of the RIGHT hericranium and RIGHT cerebral hemisphere with gliosis associated with the infarct. No acute intracranial process. There is asymmetry of the right midbrain without signal abnormality, consistent with Wallerian degeneration. Thank you for your help & time.
That report shows only the remnants of an old stroke in the right part of your brain, so if you have a history of stroke in your past it reveals nothing you did not already know.
So there are no new lesions in your brain, those findings are to be expected after a stroke, nothing to worry about.
I hope to have been of help.
