What Does The Following MRI Report Indicate?

I just had an MRI and it says...
thin complex tear of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus with an oblique configuration probably a parrot break type tear with both horizontal and vertical components as described.

small linear tear of the insertional aspect of the poaterior cruciate ligament which parallels the long axis of the ligament fibers without full thickness or retraction.

Small volume intr-articular effusion..

what does all this mean.. My dr says I MUST have surgery that it wont get better and it will get worse. he said it cant be repaired just cut out and there is no need to be concerned about bone on bone etc...
