What Does The Following MRI Report Suggest?

I had a CT and MRI done recently. Under Kidneys: There is a well-defined hypodensity lower pole left kidney measuring 12mm (34) and water attenuation. A smaller lesion in the interpolar region measuring 7 mm (26) No hydronephrosis, nephrosis, nephrophrosis, nephrolithiasis. No ureteral stones or ureferectasis. What???

Hello and great question. Can you provide a little more background about yourself (medical history, family history, medications, previous surgeries) to give me a better context for your question as well as why you had both a CT scan and MRI done recently. I will provide some basic insight now as well but this information is based on population level incidence and not specific to you, so it might not be as useful to predict your incidental findings on radiograph. The two lesions, given what is common to the kidneys, most likely represent small cysts, this is the most common abnormal incidental finding. Your CT scan and MRI suggest two small cysts in different regions of the kidney on slides 26 and 34 of the radiographic image set. There is no major fluid accumulation noted proximal or upstream to the ureters that drain urine away from the kidneys, nor any signs of kidney stones. All in all, your CT and MRI appear benign based on your description. I would follow up with your PCP for any defitive answer. Hope this helped answer your question.
